Our flagship brand, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey – part of the Brown-Forman family since 1956 – also grew from humble beginnings. First distilled by Mr. Jack Daniel himself at the Cave Spring Hollow in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in 1866, it has grown to be the world’s biggest selling American Whiskey. Despite its size, every drop is made at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, to the same exacting standards that Jack set all those years ago – “every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can”.
Life at Brown-Forman reflects our values of integrity, respect, trust, teamwork, and excellence. These values have been with us through our 150 year journey, which started in Louisville, Kentucky when George Garvin Brown first sold Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. From these humble beginnings Brown-Forman has grown and now employs more than 4,700 people worldwide.
As we celebrate our 150th birthday in 2020, we will also be planning the next stage of our growth in the UK, our second biggest market outside the USA. We are expanding our UK business to continue to build the Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands and our other premium brands, including Woodford Reserve bourbon, Herradura and el Jimador tequilas, Slane Irish Whiskey, and Finlandia vodka.
